Revert "In simplify_product (package solve_rec), be careful about"
This reverts commit c584c24ac0542a4ada435aad41f1e5adf892bbc2.
With the changes in this commit I was getting a stack overflow when
running rtest_simplify_sum. Let's revert this for now.
