   1 This is the README file for LIRC, the Linux Infrared Remote Control
   2 package. The main documentation of this package is available in HTML
   3 format.  Please refer to the file doc/html/index.html for more
   4 information.

   6 If you want to know what LIRC is and where you can get current
   7 versions of LIRC read the ANNOUNCE file.

   9 LIRC uses autoconf to make installation as easy as possible for its
  10 users. The INSTALL file describes generic installation instructions
  11 for packages that use autoconf. However you will only have to read
  12 this file if you want to do something unusual during the installation
  13 process which is described in the documentation very detailed.

  15 If you are upgrading from an older version of LIRC take a look at the
  16 NEWS file which contains all user visible changes between
  17 releases. Also at least read the "Updating from lirc-x.y.z" sections
  18 in the main documentation.
