   1 AFS is a distributed filesystem product, pioneered at Carnegie Mellon
   2 University and supported and developed as a product by Transarc
   3 Corporation (now IBM Pittsburgh Labs).  It offers a client-server
   4 architecture for file sharing, providing location independence,
   5 scalability and transparent migration capabilities for data.  IBM
   6 branched the source of the AFS product, and made a copy of the source
   7 available for community development and maintenance.  They called the
   8 release OpenAFS.
