   7 Great Circle Associates (GCA) is the original developer of Majordomo,
   8 a package for managing Internet mailing lists.  Since its initial
   9 release, many organizations and individuals have contributed
  10 enhancements and fixes, but the original copyright has been retained
  11 by Great Circle Associates.

  13 Majordomo is distributed in source code form, with almost all
  14 modules written in Perl (there is one small C program), and runs
  15 on many UNIX platforms.  Majordomo is not a supported product of
  16 Great Circle Associates, but is made available for use on the following
  17 basis.

  19 GCA grants you a license as follows to the Majordomo package:

  21      1.  LICENSE.  GCA grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable
  22 license for the Majordomo package ("Majordomo") and its associated
  23 documentation, subject to all of the following terms and conditions.
  24 In accepting a copy of Majordomo you agree to the following terms
  25 and conditions.

  27      This license permits you to use, copy, and modify Majordomo
  28 solely for your organization's use.

  30      2.    LIMITATIONS ON LICENSE.

  32            a.    You may only use, copy, and modify Majordomo
  33                  as expressly provided for in this Agreement.
  34                  You must reproduce and include this Agreement, and
  35                  GCA's  copyright notices on any copy and its
  36                  associated documentation.

  38            b.    No part of Majordomo may be incorporated into any
  39                  program or other product that is sold, or for which any
  40                  revenue is received without written permission of
  41                  Great Circle Associates, with the following exceptions:

  43                      You may install Majordomo at your site and run
  44                      mailing lists for other using it, and charge for
  45                      that service.

  47                      You may install Majordomo at other sites, and
  48                      charge for your time to install, configure,
  49                      customize, and manage it.

  51                      You may charge for enhancements you've made to
  52                      the Majordomo software, subject to the distribution
  53                      restrictions listed below.

  55                  You may not charge for the Majordomo software
  56                  itself.

  58                  A commercial license will be required in all other cases.

  60            c.    If Majordomo is being provided or configured for a
  61                  customer, the provider must clearly state in
  62                  documentation and bid/proposal materials that the
  63                  Majordomo technologies are licensed and provided
  64                  by Great Circle Associates, and a copy of this
  65                  license must be included with the configured
  66                  system.

  68            d.    Majordomo, if modified, must carry prominent notices
  69                  stating that changes have been made, and the dates of
  70                  any such changes.

  72                  You may publicly distribute an unmodified and
  73                  complete version of Majordomo, for instance as
  74                  part of a collection of free software packages,
  75                  but you must distribute the whole package, and
  76                  you must tell people where they can obtain the
  77                  latest version:

  80                  You may not publicly distribute a modified or
  81                  incomplete version of Majordomo.  You may make
  82                  such a version available to your own clients,
  83                  subject to the restrictions below, but not to the
  84                  general public (for instance, by placing it on an
  85                  anonymous FTP site).

  87                  You may not distribute (publicly or privately) a modified
  88                  version of Majordomo without clearly identifying it as such
  89                  (by changing the version string in majordomo_version.pl),
  90                  identifying the changes (through appropriate README
  91                  documentation and/or comments in the code),
  92                  identifying who will be responsible for supporting
  93                  the modified version, and informing people receiving
  94                  the modified version where they can find an
  95                  unmodified version:

  98            e.    All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved to GCA.

 100      3.  NO GCA OBLIGATION: You are solely responsible for maintaining
 101 your copy of Majordomo and the security of the operating environment in
 102 which Majordomo may be used.  You are solely responsible for all of your
 103 costs and expenses incurred in connection with the distribution of Majordomo
 104 or any Application Program hereunder, and GCA shall have no liability,
 105 obligation or responsibility therefor. GCA shall have no obligation to
 106 provide maintenance, support, upgrades, or new releases to you.

 108      4.  NO WARRANTY OF PERFORMANCE.  Majordomo and its associated
 109 documentation are licensed "as is" without warranty as to their
 110 performance, merchantability, or fitness for any particular purpose.
 111 The entire risk as to the results and performance of Majordomo is
 112 assumed by you.  Should Majordomo prove defective, you assume the
 113 entire cost of all necessary servicing, repair, or correction.

 115      5.  LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.  Neither GCA nor any other
 116 person who has been involved in the creation, production or delivery
 117 of Majordomo shall be liable to you or to any other person for any
 118 direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive
 119 damages, even if GCA has been advised of the possibility of such
 120 damages.

 122      6.  TERM.  The license granted hereunder is effective until
 123 terminated.  This license shall automatically terminate without notice
 124 if you breach any of the provisions hereof.  You may terminate it at
 125 any time by destroying Majordomo and its associated documentation.

 127      7.    GENERAL.

 129            a.    This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of
 130                  the State of California.
