   4 Here are some quick notes, that may or may not evolve into something more
   5 substantial over time. Development is preferably done via git merges.

   7 * git trees don't contain pre-built config/Makefiles/etc. You'll need to
   8   run the following (in order):

  10       aclocal -I m4
  11       automake --add-missing --copy
  12       autoconf

  14   You can also run "autoreconf -i" to perform these three stages.

  16 * Regression tests can be run as follows (try --help for more details):

  20 * Documentation is in SGML source in doc/ so don't edit *.8, *.5 directly.

  22 Prior to a new release:

  24         Update configure.ac with new version
  25         commit git tree to appropriate branch (dev/master/topic)
  26         perform a final tests/runtests on the tree
  27         push tree up to git.kernel.org
  28         prep tree for tarball (git archive)
  29         sign tree with GPG and save signature
  30         push archive up to kernel.org
