  18 A bibliographic reference is a set of lines, constituting fields of
  19 bibliographic information.  Each field starts on a line beginning with a
  20 `\fB%\fR', followed by a key-letter, then a blank, and finally the contents of
  21 the field, which may continue until the next line starting with `\fB%\fR'.

  24 The \fBlookbib\fR utility uses an inverted index made by \fBindxbib\fR to find
  25 sets of bibliographic references.  It reads keywords typed after the `\fB>\fR'
  26 prompt on the terminal, and retrieves records containing all these keywords. If
  27 nothing matches, nothing is returned except another `\fB>\fR' prompt.

  30 It is possible to search multiple databases, as long as they have a common
  31 index made by \fBindxbib\fR(1). In that case, only the first argument given to
  32 \fBindxbib\fR is specified to \fBlookbib\fR.

  35 If \fBlookbib\fR does not find the index files (the \fB\&.i\fR[\fBabc\fR]
  36 files), it looks for a reference file with the same name as the argument,
  37 without the suffixes.  It creates a file with a \fB\&.ig\fR suffix, suitable
  38 for use with \fBfgrep\fR (see \fBgrep\fR(1)). \fBlookbib\fR then uses this
  39 \fBfgrep\fR file to find references.  This method is simpler to use, but the
  40 \fB\&.ig\fR file is slower to use than the \fB\&.i\fR[\fBabc\fR] files, and
  41 does not allow the use of multiple reference files.
