4
Working with Datasets

6
Datasets are collections of identifiers that are stored in
7 the database. Datasets can be composed of accessions, plots, traits, locations,
8 and trials. Datasets are attached to the individual user’s account, and can
9 only be created and seen by the user while logged in. SGN databases use
10 Datasets in analysis tools on the website such as Wizard, GWAS, GS,
11 Heritability, and Stability tools.

13
Creating Datasets

15
Datasets are generated in the Wizard. Up to 4 identifiers
16 can be selected. First select the categories and entries in each column. In
17 this example we have selected Trials, Accessions, and Genotyping Protocols.
18 Then enter a name in the “Create New Dataset” section. In this example we have
19 used “Tinker QTL 2021”. After creating the dataset, you can make it public for
20 others to use by first selecting the dataset using the “Load Dataset”
21 list then selecting the “Make Public” button.

27
To retrieve a dataset in the Wizard, select the dataset in
28 the “Load Dataset” input then select the “Load” button. This will populate the
29 columns in the Wizard and then allow you to download and analyze the dataset.

34
To search for a dataset, select the “Datasets” link in the
35 toolbar at the top right of the website. Selecting the Dataset name will
